Practicing an ancient art in a modern world………
Kerith Creo has been an artist & teacher working in clay for over 15 years.
Prior to a more serious commitment to clay, she was an Art Director in the Independent Film Industry, worked as a Landscape Designer (having studied Horticulture at the Bronx Botanical Gardens) and worked for several architectural firms in NYC.
Kerith has designed tableware for award winning NYC restaurants, including Iron Chef Winner and restaurant “Mark Forgione" and more recently Boise, a West Village Tea House.She has partnered with several design firms to create site -specific pieces for the private home and client.
In 2009, Kerith was seen on ABC's "20/20" teaching a pottery lesson and in 2010 was filmed for a PUMA sportswear commercial “throwing a pot”. Additionally, she has taught pottery to Developmentally Challenged children & adults as well as patients receiving treatment at Memorial Sloan Cancer Center Hospital. She was a 2010 recipient for scholarship to attend the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, an internationally renowned school on Deer Isle, Maine.
Kerith currently serves on the Board of Directors for LEEP Beyond, a NFP offering therapeutic & educational programs in Art, Music & Science Education for children with developmental differences. When not in the clay studio, Kerith has held position for 3 years as Director- NY Tri-State Area for BidPal Network, a company improving charitable fundraising by helping nonprofits more efficiently run their events from start to finish. Recently, BidPal was named by Inc. 500 as #74 on the exclusive list of the nation’s fastest growing companies.
Her passion for “clay” is matched by her passion for protecting the Environment & Endangered Species. Through her latest work, combining passions, she hopes to inspire others to protect our natural environment & to end wildlife trafficking.
Kerith teaches all levels of pottery & hand-building in NYC studios, NYC Public Schools and the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts & Sciences. Ever curious about the world around us, she has traveled, lived
or worked in nearly 40 countries. She is delighted to spend time in Barnegat Light when not in NYC & is grateful to be a part of the amazing community and staff of the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts & Sciences.
